From France: a look back at 250 AI projects serving municipalities

The Observatoire Data Publica (France) has just published an analysis of 250 examples of how AI is being used by local authorities. These initiatives span all areas of activity: technical roles in smart cities, social services, environmental management, education, citizen engagement, local democracy, and more.

This masterclass will build on a mapping of these projects—highlighting what works and what doesn’t, the AI systems being deployed, and their impact both on the work of public servants and on their relationship with residents. It will also provide an opportunity to discuss the broader implications of these systems for democracy and the ecological transition.
