Information

At a time when disruptive technologies are redefining our societies, what is the role of artists in these dynamics of transformation? This panel brings together researchers, professionals, and practitioners in digital research and creation from UQAC, UQAM, and ÉTS. Based on their work, they explore how artists can actively contribute to technological and scientific innovation.

Their discussions will focus on three main themes:

  • Current technological advances, such as artificial intelligence and immersive and interactive technologies, and how the digital arts are harnessing them to offer new forms of experimentation and meaning;
  • Contemporary sociopolitical issues, including questions of inclusion, identity, social justice, and sustainable development, and the critical role of artists in shaping more humane and inclusive innovation;
  • The Quebec context of research-creation, its roots in the cultural and creative industries, and opportunities for collaboration with other sectors of innovation.

By combining theory and practice, this panel will highlight how artistic approaches can broaden our conception of innovation and renew its purposes.
